XVI. B.1. Reaction Center Apoproteins of PSII
The reaction center of PSII (RCII) consists of the D1 and D2 proteins, cytochrome b-559, and a 4.8 kDa protein, all of which are encoded by the chloroplast genome (for a review see Akerlund, 1993). All cofactors needed for the proimary photoreactions except the quinone components are present in the RCII complex.
