    XVI.B.4.a. CP29

CP29 (and CP26)are closer to the PSII reaction center than CP24. CP 29 contains 10-12 Chls per protein, with a Chl a/b ratio of 3-.0-3.2. (for a general review see Akerlund, 1993). Denaturing electrophoresis reveals one apoprotein of 29-31.5 kDA. The role of CP29 apart from light harvesting is not clear.

A query for CP29 addressed to the various protein databases listed in the Biology Workbench, yielded 20 records which are depicted under Sequenced CP29. These sequences can be used for Sequence Similarity Searches or other manipulations using one of several routines described in the Biology Workbench or elsewhere (see AntheproW which can be downloaded via anonymous ftp from: ibcp.fr; pub/Antheprot/Windows/anthe 3_1 directory). For example a Blast Sequence Similarity Search of barley CP29 addressed to the Biology Workbench (SwissProt database) is depicted below.
